How to Choose the Right Wall Mount Bracket for Your TV to Your TV

Jan 22

What is the best mounting for your television. TV Wall Mounts: Which one is the best one for you?

For flat screen TVs there are three standard types of tv installation mounts in Dallas.

  • Wall Mount that Tilts
  • Wall mount or Articulating bracket (also called full-motion wall mounting)
  • Low-Profile/Fixed Wall Mount

When you are deciding on wall mounts for TVs, there are some things to keep in mind.

  • This wall mount is compatible with VESA mount compatibility up to a maximum load-bearing capacity (4 screw mounting screws that are located on the back of your television).
  • The kind of wall where you'll put your TV. Drywall with wooden studs Drywall with studs made of metal, Concrete, Brick, Cinder-block Plaster wall (Interior) and Plaster wall (Exterior) are a few examples (Exterior).
  • This is how the cable connections on the back of your TV are placed. For example, the cable connections at the rear of your TV are oriented toward the wall.

What exactly does the acronym VESA stand for?

On the side of flat screen televisions and monitors, there are VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) defined mounting arrangement. Most flat-screen TV and monitor manufacturers have adopted the VESA mounting pattern. TVs with VESA compatibility have four holes at the back (two on the top and two on the below) to attach a VESA-compliant mounting bracket that matches the VESA mounting pattern.

  • Wall Mounts That Tilt

Tilting brackets provide the most compatibility, without the need for any modifications to attach any VESA mount compatible flat screen TV or monitor.

  • Ideal for suitable for LCD, Plasma, LED, and OLED flat and curved screen televisions.
  • On any flat surface: Plaster wood, drywall, wall studs, along with metal studs (interior and exterior walls). Concrete, brick, tiled walls, and other such.
  • In the majority of cases, Lateral Shift makes it easy to center the TV where you'd like it (ability to slide the TV to the left and right on the wall plate)
  • Most of the Tilting TV wall mounts we offer have enough clearance between the TV's back and the wall (between 2 12 and 3.1 inches, depending on the type of mount) to reach behind the TV to allow for a simple cable connection and management regardless of the cable's connection facing downwards, sideways or backwards towards the wall.
  • You can tilt your TV to the side if it's placed high above a fireplace.
  • To reach the cables on the side of your TV move it upwards (on the majority of models) should you need to alter the wiring.
  • The extra-heavy TVs are able to be mounted on wall plates with extra-wide widths. The extra-wide wall plates allow you to use up to three 16-inch-apart studs (for an overall distance of 32 inches).
  • It can be used with a component wall shelf to hide any cables that are slack behind your TV. This will provide you with more aesthetics and a better finish.
  • The wiring in the TV is easy to set up and maintain.

Cons:

  • Although it stands out slightly higher than Super Slim/Low-profile television wall mounts, it is a fair trade-off considering all its other benefits.
  • It can't rotate left or right.
  • It tilts the TV both upwards and downwards, and also "Pops Out" at 5.7 inches, making it much easier to get behind the television. If you're trying to reach the wires that are behind a 90-inch television, for instance, the pop-out feature comes in handy. It is also useful when the power outlet is positioned in the centre of the TV, making it difficult to reach the outlet to connect or disconnect the power cord without the feature of pop-out.
  • Even on extremely heavy 90-inch TVs, tilting is effortless.
  • The mount is described as a tilting wall mounted but it has an incline that is slightly to left and right.
  • A large cut-out is located in the middle section of the wall plate allowing it to be used to cover an electrical outlet or cable jack, for example.
  • Micro-level adjustment -- This feature allows you to alter the level of the TV after it has been installed in the wall.
  • TV Wall Mounts With Full Motion

Full Motion TV Wall Mounts are available in two varieties.

  • Full Motion Wall Mount with Single Stud Mounting (for smaller TVs)
  • Full Motion Wall Mount with Double Studs (for larger TVs)

This particular example is based on the SKU 1281. As you can see, this articulating bracket is designed to be mounted to a single stud allowing the installation of smaller or lighter televisions.

Full Motion Wall Mount with Single Stud Mounting

Our SKU 1291 Full Motion Wall Mount is used in the illustration below. This wall mount can be installed on two 16-inch On Center studs. Double stud mounts can be able to be more sturdy than one stud mount, making it the ideal choice to mount larger and more heavy televisions.

As you can see, this bracket's wall plate section is significantly shorter than that of the Tilt bracket (which is the standard for full-motion mounts). This mount is not the only one with narrow walls. Full motion mounts have narrow wall plates that can be attached to studs that are no larger than 16 inches from the center. Only a few models can accommodate stud spacings up to 24 inches.

Full Motion Wall Mounts have a wall plate that is sufficient to be attached to two 16-inch screws.

Pros:

  • Swivel to the right and left
  • Suitable for LCD, Plasma, LED, and OLED flat and curved screen televisions.
  • If you don't wish for your TV to be angled and folds away from the wall. This is ideal for large spaces or at corners.
  • Some models can swivel 180 degrees.
  • Many of the models that we sell can be tilted downwards or up.
  • You can access the cable connections on the rear of your TV by removing it from your wall.

Cons:

  • Due to the shape of the thin wall plates There is a limit.
  • In the majority of cases it is impossible to position the television in the proper center position. This is based on where the studs are located. As a result, it's not recommended on walls with narrow spaces or in the vicinity of the fireplace.
  • Most of the time full motion mounts are heavier than other mounts. They also stick out more.
  • Although the standard stud spacing is 16 inches in the center, it's fairly uncommon to find studs with a spacing greater than 16 inches, particularly in basements or when the wall meets another wall perpendicularly on the other wall. There are only a few full motion mounts are on the market that can be mounted on 24 inches of spacing.
  • It is not recommended to mount heavy TVs on drywall with metal screws or on exterior walls of older homes and buildings.
  • Are you planning to place your TV above the fireplace? The location of the studs determines if you can place your TV above the fireplace.

Make use of a Full Motion Wall Mount for the TV's centering

For a full motion TV to be mounted over your fireplace, first check where the studs are. This will allow you to determine the possibility of having your TV aligned over them. The chances of your studs being exactly where you require for the TV to be put in the centre of the wall are very slim to none.
